Migration support for VMware environments

Plan your VMware migration
with SynchresisVM.

Native desktop apps and SynchresisVM Server on one server are free forever, including 1.0. We install it with you on an introductory free call—and you get direct access to the developers. Installation calls are free throughout closed beta and for the first few months after 1.0.

SynchresisVM is available now in closed beta. Request access and we’ll arrange your installation call.

Plan for your next virtualization project

Whether you are expanding a lab, planning a deployment or migrating workloads, start with a clear question: what does your virtualization environment need to deliver? Document application compatibility, recovery, daily operations and the resources your project requires.

SynchresisVM is a general-purpose virtualization and computer-emulation platform built around Linux KVM, FreeBSD bhyve and a common management interface. Its closed beta is available now, so you can bring real workloads and test your requirements.

Start with a lab or nonproduction pilot. Keep your current environment available while you establish compatibility, support arrangements, restoration and a workable cutover plan.

Built for engineers. Start free on one server.

SynchresisVM began as the platform we wanted our own engineers to use. The closed beta gives you a direct line to the people building it: an introductory free installation call for every participant, ongoing access to the developers for questions and feedback, and single-server use free forever—including the official 1.0 release. Installation calls are free throughout closed beta and for the first few months after 1.0. No purchase required.

We can demonstrate clustering for free on your installation call. We may agree a free trial for a small cluster for the beta period. Standard clustering prices apply unless we agree a trial.

Infrastructure you administer

Run the software on your own Linux or FreeBSD systems. Evaluate the host, hardware and storage design that suits your operations.

Clustering starts at two

SynchresisVM supports two-server clusters without a rigid-quorum requirement. Two licensed servers cost $590 per year, including expert developer support.

Backups you can inspect

Your backups contain VM configuration and disk images in standard archives. Inspect them with standard tools, and test restoration during your pilot.

Make memory work for the workload. For most VM types, host memory is backed as guest pages are used, enabling “sane overcommit.” Evaluate bhyve on FreeBSD or KVM on Linux against the actual performance and capacity your services need. Explore the architecture and memory model.

See actual SynchresisVM screens for the dashboard, clusters, backups, migration and networking.

Account for the capabilities your teams use

For a VMware migration, document which ESXi workloads and operational services are in scope. The same inventory also helps when adding a platform alongside an existing environment.

Questions to settle before a platform decision
Your current dependencyEvidence to require from a candidate
ESXi hosts and VM guestsBoot, drivers, firmware, application behavior and workload performance on the proposed host/backend.
vCenter, templates and automationA tested daily management workflow, operator permissions and working API or tooling integrations.
HA, DRS and vMotionDemonstrated failure handling, placement and maintenance procedures, with downtime and limitations documented.
vSAN, datastores and storage policiesA destination storage design with verified capacity, latency, recovery and operational ownership.
NSX, VLANs and network servicesMapped networks, firewall policy, routing, DNS and load-balancing dependencies tested end to end.
Backup, identity and security toolsVersion-specific compatibility, successful restoration, access controls, monitoring and an agreed support path.

Use this checklist to agree what your pilot must demonstrate.

A clear price for software, support and migration

Native desktop apps and single-server SynchresisVM Server are free forever, including 1.0. Standard clustering is $295 per server per year, with a two-server minimum ($590/year), including expert support directly from the developers. These rates apply unless we agree a trial for a small cluster. For a hands-on move, our $15-per-VM white-glove migration targets minimal downtime and includes testing after first boot.

For example, three clustered servers are $885 per year; assisted migration of 20 VMs is $300. The introductory free installation call helps you get the product installed; workload migration is a separate service. Installation calls are free throughout closed beta and for the first few months after 1.0.

Build a practical evaluation plan

Inventory the proposed workloads

Record hosts, VMs, guest versions, disks, network dependencies, application owners and recovery targets. Identify encrypted workloads, vTPM, passthrough devices and vendor support requirements early.

Choose a representative pilot

Use a workload that exercises your real requirements without putting a critical service at risk. Test application behavior, performance, backup and restore, operations and recovery. Record failures and unresolved requirements as clearly as successes.

Compare the full cost

Account for software, support, hardware, training, backup changes, staff time, parallel operation and downtime. Ask each supplier to put licensing and support terms in writing for the proposed environment.

Decide before the cutover

Set acceptance criteria, a maintenance window, a rollback trigger and accountable owners. If a mandatory requirement is unresolved, extend the pilot or choose another path before moving that workload.

Common questions before joining the beta

How should I evaluate SynchresisVM for my environment?

SynchresisVM is available now in closed beta. Use the evaluation to establish suitability for your environment. A feature list or successful guest boot is only part of the evidence needed for a production decision.

Can I ask about migrating ESXi workloads?

Yes. We can discuss the source version and a representative workload on your installation call. Built-in migration tooling covers ESXi, Hyper-V (including Windows Failover Clusters) and Proxmox. You can also choose white-glove migration for $15 per VM: we target minimal downtime and test after first boot.

What is free, and can I try clustering?

Native desktop apps and single-server SynchresisVM Server are free forever, including the official 1.0 release. Installation calls are free throughout closed beta and for the first few months after 1.0, with direct access to the developers. We can demonstrate clustering for free on the call and may agree a free trial for a small cluster for the beta period. Otherwise, standard clustering is $295 per server per year, with a two-server minimum ($590/year), including expert developer support. Hands-on workload migration is a separate service at $15 per VM.

Can I get help with my current virtualization environment?

Yes. Independent virtualization support is available as a separate service for your current platform. We can discuss your operational requirements and project schedule alongside your interest in the beta.

Start your SynchresisVM evaluation with an introductory free installation call

Installation calls are free throughout closed beta and for the first few months after 1.0. Leave your name and email to request access. We can talk through your workloads and questions when we help you get installed.

VMware, vSphere, ESXi, vCenter and related marks belong to their respective owners. Synchresis Solutions provides an independent product and services.
